Xander walked along the dark path. It was night time and the only lights for him came from the blimps high above his head. The lit up the grave yard around him, enough to make his way around and read the signs that said people like him would be executed in sight.

He was a good kid growing up, and didn’t see himself as a bad person now. Unlike GeneCo, he wouldn’t take away whatever he did. It wasn’t that way with most. Almost everyone, apart from the ones addicted to the ‘Z’ seemed to think so.

His eyes fell on each tomb stone as he passed, some that he walked by daily, others that had only been there for weeks. He stopped and looked at one. Smirking he lifted his shovel up and duck it into the ground, pulling up some of the dirt and dumping it aside. He hummed a soft tune as he did. the sounds that surrounded him all blended together.

It was a rhythm he’d gotten used to, a rhythm that he now lived by. Day in and day out, Xander lived a life he never thought he would. A life that he grew to love.

Only flickering lanterns and GeneCop search lights permeated the darkness of the graveyard Cordelia crept through. She knew she shouldn’t be there so late at night (The night isn’t safe for a young girl like you, her father would chide her if he knew), but that was the last thing on her mind right now.

Or, it had been, until she practically ran headlong into an open grave.

Not to mention the man hovering above it.

“What are you doing?!” The words slipped out before she could stop them, and the young heiress fought the urge to cover her mouth as soon as she spoke. Whoever this man was, he was robbing graves in the middle of the night; she should be running in the opposite direction as fast as she could, not meddling whatever freaky affairs he had.

So why was she still frozen in place right behind him?
