“Shame,” Spike shrugged, taking a few steps away from the girl and digging his box of smokes out of his jeans back pocket. “Dammit,” he grunted when he fished out the box. “Soaked through.”

He tossed the soggy cardboard and ruined cigarettes into an already debris-ridden corner of the room. “No smokes, no drinks, no food… at least the company’s good, eh, pet?” He offered Cordelia a hesitant smile. He thought she looked a little tired. Truth be told, he barely knew her - just that she’d been one of Buffy’s high school classmates and had briefly dated the whelp. “Yeah, I s’pose that’s good. I could look around for blankets, but chances are they’d be all moldy an’ riddled with dust mites.”

Cordelia watched, amused, as Spike messed with the cigarette pack. She’d never seen the appeal of smoking herself. However, if you were immortal with no threat of lung cancer or skin disease, it probably didn’t matter quite as much.

“Well, technically there’s food for you, but– -” Cordelia began to counter his statement, but cut off abruptly as her brain caught up with her mouth. “Okay, considering that said food is me, forget I ever said anything.” she amended, smiling sheepishly. "But yeah, the company’s good.“ She knew that some of the Scoobies hadn’t liked Spike very much– and neither had Angel– but she didn’t have any personal reason to hate him.

She made a face at Spike’s comment. "I think I’ll manage without blankets for now.” she replied, shuddering at the thought of having to use anything mold-infested. Never once in high school did she think she’d be in situations like this on a normal basis.
