“Been impaled more than once myself,” Spike shrugged. “Not the most warm and fuzzy feelin’. Of course… I’ve given back as good as I got.”

He picked at the already chipping black paint on his fingernails for a moment before he realized that she was still standing, and that her feet probably hurt from dashing through the rain in those high heels. “Oh. Er… here.” Spike stood up and gestured at the armchair as he vacated it. “Warm enough, pet?” he asked, though to be honest, he didn’t have anything else to offer her to keep her warm, besides the shirt off his back.

“Yeah, well I never had the chance to do that. Unlike whoever stabbed you, ex-boyfriends aren’t exactly killing material.” Cordelia pointed out, echoing Spike’s shrug.

She watched quizzically as Spike stood up again. Cordelia hadn’t been expecting him to give up his seat, but the throbbing ache in her feet made her glad he did. “Thank you.” she murmured, unsure of what else to say. Kicking off her heels, she curled up in the armchair and rested her head on her knees. “Yeah, I think so.” She still had goosebumps covering her bare legs– and probably her arms beneath the jacket as well– but it wasn’t as bad as before. “I’m not shivering any more, so that’s a good sign at least.”
