“Could ‘ave just asked. I would ‘ave gone with ye ta shop on our free day.” A small smiled crossed her face as Cordy explained that the getting dressed up bit was to make them happy. Not a project or a pity case. Just for Cordy to be with someone and actually shop.
Her thoughts jarred and expression fell at the last question. Doyle looked at the hands in her lap, taking a moment. “Because I never ‘ad a chance ta ask ye why me when I was alive the first time.”
Cordelia echoed her smile. Honestly, she had always just figured that Doyle wouldn’t want to go. Most guys she knew in the past either flat out refused to go or expected something out of it– just ask any of her old high school boyfriends. "Yeah, I guess I never thought of that.“ she admitted sheepishly, glancing down.
She shrugged uncomfortably, uncertain of how to answer Doyle’s question. "What do you mean, why you?” she asked. There were too many ways that question could be taken, and Cordelia really didn’t feel like walking straight into another misunderstanding.
