“I’m not going anywhere Cordelia.” Doyle took her hand in his. “Not going to lose me this time. Not without a warning.”
He chuckled softly. “Course I did. Just wish I could remember more about ye. All the wasted years of me not being ‘ere. I’m sorry fer that. But I ‘ad ta do it.” Doyle spoke as she for once didn’t resist his hug. It was nice. The hug felt natural, almost sincere. A complete 180 from when they had first met. This was much better. He wrapped one arm tighter around her, not wanting to let go as a smile tugged at his lips. Running a hand gently through her hair he sighed happily. “Good. Cause I don’t think ye can get rid of me this time.”
She ducked her head down, burying her face in the curve of his shoulder. “It wasn’t wasted,” she protested, her voice muffled. “You saved a whole family. And Angel. And me.” Cordelia loosely wrapped her arms around Doyle’s waist and closed her eyes, soothed by the hand running through her hair.
